Saint-Cado, une île de charme sur la Ria d’Etel

Saint-Cado is located on the Ria d’Etel, near Belz and this is one of the most famous sights from the Ria.

It is really worth seeing and from there you can walk along the coastal paths

Le Vieux Passage

Un port pittoresque sur la Ria d’Etel

It is a really charming tiny harbour with its small embankment and its traditional boats surrounded by traditional houses. There is a coastal path which can take you to the mouth of the Ria d’Etel.

From there you can dive but you will have to be careful because of the strong current in the Ria d’Etel.

La barre d’Etel

Beautiful phenomenon

Located at the mouth of the Ria, it is a natural phenomenon due to a large underwater sandbar. You will be able to see it on the Plouhinec or Erdeven localities.

This phenomenon varies according to the tides and winds. Sailing there can be very delicate and there have been several shipwrecks.

Vannes – The Gulf of Morbihan

Vannes is a medieval city located at the brink of the Gulf of Morbihan (meaning little sea in Breton) . There are old medieval houses, private mansions. You can walk along the marina or discover the different islands in the Gulf. You will have to take a boat to visit Arz or l’île aux Moines which are the most famous islands and during your boat trip you will probably come across some of the old traditional boats called the sinagots.

Le Moulin de la Demi-Ville / Le Listoir

This is the last sea water-mill on the Ria d’Etel already there on the 16th century. It works thanks to the tide and also the stream.

There is a very nice hike to be discovered about 6kms long.

La côte sauvage de Quiberon

A spectacular hike not to be missed especially with high winds

The Quiberon shore on the west side is rocky. The small coves are different according to the seasons. You will see the beautiful sights of the Percho, the coastal path will take you to Port Blanc, Port Rhu, Port Bara and Port Goulom beaches.

The starting point to a tour of the Gulf of Morbihan

You will be able to walk on the coastal path, enjoy the breathtaking view on the mouth of the Gulf of Morbihan with Port Navalo on the opposite side. You can also sample the delicious oysters.

On very low tides, you can even  pick cockles and wild oysters.

Musée de la Compagnie des Indes

This museum is located in an old Vauban fortress in Port-Louis overlooking the Lorient port.

It tells you how famous Lorient became thanks to the spice trade during the XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries but there is also a beautiful sea museum with many models.

Le zoo de Pont-Scorff

Pont-Scorff is a beautiful well-maintained zoo on 12 hectares close to Lorient. You can easily spend a few hours there observing the elephants, giraffes, tigers, lions and monkeys as well birds.

It is one of the most visited place in Morbihan.

This is an interactive exhibition center where you can explore the making of old sailing boats to the most modern ones.

Auray / Saint-Goustan

Saint Goustan is Auray old harbor on the brinks of the Auray river or Loc’h, the oldest part of the town. It used to be a large trade and fishing harbor. This is where Benjamin Franklin landed as he came from America to ask for the French help.

A sight worth seeing where you can have a drink or eat in one of the numerous little restaurants.

Le château de Suscinio

Suscinio castle is located between the ocean and the marshes, Suscinio looks like an imposing and dignified fortress.

Dating from medieval time, it was the hunting residence of the Dukes od Brittany who came to have leisure.

This aptly named island

Three quarters of an hour from Quiberon, visit its castle, its lighthouses and walk in nature or cycle along the small roads.

This is the most spectacular and impressive megaliths sight with over 4,000 standing stones aligned on a few kilometers.

Poul-Fetan

An old Breton village

Visiting this place, you will feel the atmosphere of XIXth century farming life. It is located in the Blavet valley.

You will be able to take part in all the former jobs as washerwoman, spinning and weaving and you will also sample the crepes and butter.

From talvern you can cycle on the small roads or hike.
